Maggie Ziegler

As a mixed media artist and designer, I’ve been deeply inspired by the natural beauty of Vancouver Island since moving here over 14 years ago. My surroundings continue to captivate me, and I’m endlessly grateful for the chance to express myself creatively through my art.

Art has always been my passion. I feel incredibly lucky to pursue it every day. I’m not limited by subject matter, but I often find myself drawn to creatures with fins or feathers—symbols of movement and transformation. My paintings blend representational imagery with abstract, unconventional backgrounds, creating a dynamic interplay between realism and imagination. Bright colours and layered textures bring me joy—and hopefully a bit of that joy shines through in each piece.

I work fluidly between traditional and digital mediums, allowing each to inform and enrich the other. Whether with a brush or a stylus, I approach my practice with a curious, open-hearted spirit, embracing the unknown in every mark I make. My commitment to the creative process is life-long and ever-evolving, grounded in a desire to reflect the beauty, wonder, and complexity of the world around me.
